Treatment Options for Mesothelioma, Information on Asbestos Cancer Cure, Remedies, and Treatment Options.

Provides information on surgical, non-surgical, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and alternative treatment options for mesothelioma cancer.

Treatment for Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma treatment options depend on many factors, including:

  • The stage of the Mesothelioma cancer,
  • Parts of the body so affected,
  • Biopsy results and
  • Mesothelioma Patient’s age, his/her personal choices, overall prognosis, etc.

Many patients diagnosed with Mesothelioma disease survive for eight to twelve months. However, with the recent advances in medical sciences, the results reported by leading cancer research centers seem to suggest better results. Early detection of mesothelioma seems to have a great impact on a lung cancer patient's prognosis.

Treatment options for malignant mesothelioma patients can be classified in the following three categories:

Mesothelioma Cancer Surgery:
Depending upon the area of Mesothelioma cancer and the stage/spread thereof, several surgical cancer treatment options may be considered. For example, Pleurectomy is often indicated to relieve chest wall pain and to prevent recurring pleural effusions. Depending on the extent the cancer may have spread, a lung may also may be removed in an operation called a Pneumonectomy.
Mesothelioma Chemotherapy:
Chemotherapy for Mesothelioma involves use of powerful drugs to kill cancer cells. Mesothelioma chemotherapy drugs are administered non-surgically in the form of a pill, or they may be injected into the body using an IV needle, or by injecting them in the muscle.
Radiation therapy for Mesothelioma:
Powerful, targetted x-ray raditions are often used to kill Mesothelioma cancer cells and to shrink malignant/cancerous tumors. A Mesothelioma patient may be radiated using an external source or internally by placing radiating materials (radioisotopes) contained in thin-walled plasic tubes directly in the vicinity of the area affected by the Mesothelioma cancer.
