Pulmonary hypertension occurs when the lungs' arteries become narrow or restricted. This condition results in increased blood pressure within the pulmonary arteries. This serious lung condition is known as pulmonary hypertension.

What is Pulmonary Hypertension?

Pulmonary hypertension is a rare lung disorder in which the blood pressure in the pulmonary artery rises considerably above the normal levels, often without any apparent reasons.

In other words, Pulmonary Hypertension is a lung condition involving high blood pressure in the lung arteries. It is a serious lung disorder that becomes progressively worse and eventually may cause loss of life.

Often Pulmonary Hypertension results from an underlying dieases such as congestive heart failure or COPD. In such cases, it is considered to be secondary pulmonary hypertension. On the other hand, Pulmonary Hypertension without a known cause is considered to be primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH).
