What is Mesothelioma?
Mesothelioma is commonly known as asbestos lung cancer. Chest cancer or the cancer of the lining of the lungs is called malignant pleural mesothelioma, cancer of the lining of abdomen (abdominal cancer) is known as malignant peritoneal mesothelioma, and the cancer of the lining of the heart is called malignant pericardial mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma is usually caused by exposure to asbestos. Asbestos (a group of naturally occurring minerals) releases strong, microscopic fibers that may injure the protective linings surrounding the body's organs. Check out our mesothelioma news section for the latest mesothelioma cancer news.

What is Asbestosis?
Asbestosis is caused by inhalation of asbestos fibers. It is not a cancerous lung disease. Asbestosis is a lung condition, often referred to as a diffuse pulmonary fibrosis resulting from the inhalation of asbestos fibers. It is often categorized as an occupational lung disease or environmental lung disease. Asbestosis often exists without any symptoms, and is usually detected by x-ray findings and CT scans. Check out our asbestosis news section for the latest asbestos lung disease news.
